Typical structure of a SciFora event
macrostructure:
a typical Forum covers 4 days and includes 3 events:
● the Scientific Conference, held on Tuesday and Wednesday is the core of the Forum and is limited to 75 attendees.
● an optional pre-conference workshop is held on Monday and covers practical, laboratory-related topics related to the Forum’s theme. This event is limited to 25 attendees to account for lab space restrictions
● an optional post-conference symposium, which can include one or two tracks, at the discretion of the Forum’s host; these tracks can be on-topic, near-topic, or unrelated to the Forum’s theme. This optional event is also restricted to 25 participants
microstructure
● the Conference is built on the 15/30/45 model, namely
○ 15 mn flash presentations (for students and best posters)
○ 30 mn podium presentations
○ 45 mn keynote presentations (can also be 60 minutes in duration)
● the Conference includes 4-6 keynotes,12-16 podium presentations; 4 flash presentations
● poster presentation/competition on Tuesday afternoon; usually 15-20 posters
● the workshop includes lab-related short talks and lab tours
● the symposium includes short, casual presentations and interactive discussions
● the Forum also includes a welcome Reception on Monday, Poster reception on Tuesday and a Forum banquet/awards on Tuesday; breaks and lunches are also provided
● hotel accommodations are not included in the registration fee
